Are you passionate about supporting pupils with their social & emotional development?

We are looking for a passionate, dedicated, and resilient Youth Mentor to join a lovely school based in Bath, providing support to children and young people within primary and secondary school settings. Working alongside teachers and school staff, you will help pupils overcome barriers to learning, improve their wellbeing, and develop the confidence and skills they need to succeed both academically and personally.

This role is ideal for someone with experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Youth Worker, Behaviour Mentor, Sports Coach or in a similar child-focused support role.

In this role, you will be able to:

Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who require additional support.
Provide one-to-one and small group mentoring sessions.
Support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
Assist teachers in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Help pupils remain engaged in lessons and achieve their learning goals.
Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
Encourage confidence, resilience, independence, and self-esteem.
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, and external professionals.
Maintain accurate records of mentoring sessions, progress, and interventions.
Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people in line with safeguarding policies.

Your experience may include:

Experience working with children or young people in a school, youth work, or community setting.
Understanding of the challenges facing young people with additional needs, behavioural difficulties, or social and emotional needs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries.
Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
