About the Role
Do you have the ambition and drive to join the team in taking Haringey Youth Justice Service forward, providing effective interventions that produce positive outcomes for young people, families and communities? We are seeking a qualified social worker with a track record of performing to a high standard in preventing offending and reoffending.
A recognized professional qualification i.e. degree or master’s in social work, youth work, probation, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in Youth Justice. Qualified social workers should have current registration with Social Work England as a registered social worker.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Evidence of continuing professional development aligned to any relevant Professional Competency/Capability frameworks or Knowledge and Skills Statements.
The candidate will have experience of social work and /or criminal justice practice and deep knowledge and understanding of youth justice and children’s legislation and the ability to build strong working relationships with key partners and stakeholders.
Deep and up to date knowledge and understanding of youth justice, children’s and other relevant legislation, regulation and guidance.
Experience of chairing meetings involving young people, family members and/or carers and other multi-agency professionals.
Developing strong relationships with partners, other agencies and the local community to achieve joint objectives and offer a supportive framework for young people.
Proven track record of clear decision making with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
About You
The ideal candidate will need to be a resilient and authoritative practitioner who places children and young people and their welfare at the heart of your practice. You will ensure that children and young people’s voices are heard, positively influence your practice, and recorded consistently.
The Youth Justice Case Manager in the Youth Justice Service manages a complex caseload of high-risk young people and Looked After Children, subject to court disposal. Working closely with family, schools and key agencies to address the factors leading to offending is key to achieving outcomes.
Responsible for carrying out comprehensive, high quality assessments of young people using Asset+ and other YOS tools.
Responsible for managing a highly complex caseload of high risk young people in accordance with National and Service Standards. Maintaining accurate and timely data, reports and presentations, using the Youth Justice Service Information System (Childview).
Develop effective intervention plans, evidencing input from young people, parents/carers, liaising with partnership providers to access additional services to support the young person, reduce the risk they pose and prevent further offending.
Prepare or Quality Assure high quality reports for Court and Youth Offender Panel, participating in a range of case conferences, court attendance, and statutory reviews, pro-actively taking the lead when a social care perspective is required.
Accountable for conducting assessments and planning responses to ensure risk and safeguarding processes, such as MAPPA, are followed and reviewed.
Delivers a high level of expertise in particular areas of practice, leads on those areas, carries out quality assurance processes and reviews key aspects of team performance.
Builds strong working relationships with stakeholders and partners, representing Youth Justice Service at external meetings
