Blackstone Recruitment are working with a provider of education, care and support services for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities who are recruiting for a Young Adults Support Worker for one of their sites in Hertfordshire.

Job Post: Young Adults Support Worker

Location: Hertfordshire

Hours: 40hrs per week

Salary: £11.72 - £12.78 per hour (linked to competency and qualifications) PLUS £1500 Welcome bonus*

Annual Salary: £24,375 - £26,582 per year for a 40-hour week

Training: Full training provided and once passed probation we will support and fund studying the Level 3 diploma in Health and Social Care

The role:

As a support worker you will be highly involved in personal care, this is supporting young people with all aspects of personal hygiene including toileting, dressing and maintain their personal appearance.

As well as supporting with their medical needs you will also get involved in helping with the young adult’s therapies such as rebound therapy or hydrotherapy. We also have sensory gardens, a skills centre, forestry school and rooms dedicated to art, music and much more.

Independence is prompted wherever is possible, the adults will often run their own days with what they like to do, so you could be helping make things in the site’s enterprise scheme, going on shopping trips, taking part in forestry lessons, or even going to the pub!!

Experience:

Successful candidate is likely to demonstrate the following:

* Willingness to learn and to go the extra mile.

* Ability to guide and encourage supportive independence when possible.

* Exceptional communication skills and patience

* Resilient with a robust and positive nature

* Ability to be creative in meeting the needs of the young adults.

* Ability to work on a rota pattern which will include working every other weekend.
