Supply Desk is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in the Ascot (SL5 area) to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 6 Teacher. This is an excellent opportunity for a Key Stage 2 specialist to lead a class through a crucial stage of their primary education and prepare pupils for the transition to secondary school.

This role would suit a motivated and resilient teacher with a strong understanding of the Year 6 curriculum and SATs preparation, who is passionate about achieving strong outcomes while supporting pupils’ confidence and wellbeing.

The Role

As a Year 6 Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in preparing pupils for Key Stage 2 SATs and supporting their transition into secondary education, ensuring they are both academically ready and emotionally prepared for the next stage.

Key Responsibilities

Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons in line with the Upper Key Stage 2 national curriculum
Preparing pupils for KS2 SATs, including targeted interventions and exam readiness
Supporting pupils’ progress in core subjects (reading, writing, and maths) with a focus on attainment and progress
Monitoring and assessing pupil progress, using data to inform teaching and booster sessions
Creating a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment
Providing targeted support for pupils of varying abilities, including those with SEN
Supporting pupils’ transition to secondary school, fostering independence and resilience
Building strong relationships with parents, carers, and colleagues
Working collaboratively with teaching assistants and the wider school team

Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – Desirable
Experience teaching within Key Stage 2, ideally Upper KS2
Strong understanding of the Year 6 curriculum and SATs expectations
Excellent classroom management and organisational skills
Ability to raise attainment and support pupils under pressure
A structured, engaging, and supportive teaching approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work full-time in the Burnham (SL1) area from September

Desirable

Experience teaching Year 6
Experience preparing pupils for KS2 SATs
Strong understanding of assessment frameworks and progress tracking
Experience supporting pupils with additional needs (SEN)
Ability to deliver targeted interventions and booster sessions
