About the role and school

Teach Plus are currently recruiting for a caring and experienced Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Edgware, starting ASAP. This full-time Teaching Assistant role will involve providing dedicated support to a child in Year 6 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The successful Teaching Assistant will work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to help the pupil access the Year 6 curriculum, remain engaged with learning and develop their confidence and independence within the classroom.

The school is a large, inclusive primary school with a strong community ethos and a commitment to ensuring every child feels valued and supported. The school offers a broad and engaging curriculum within a positive learning environment, supported by experienced leadership and a collaborative staff team. Inclusion and pupil wellbeing are central to the school's approach, with teachers and support staff working closely together to meet the individual needs of pupils.

This Teaching Assistant position would particularly suit someone with previous experience supporting children with ASD or other special educational needs. The school is looking for a patient, confident and adaptable Teaching Assistant who can build a positive relationship with the pupil and provide consistent support throughout the school day. Job Responsibilities

Provide dedicated support for a Year 6 pupil with ASD
Support the pupil in accessing the Year 6 curriculum and participating in classroom activities
Implement appropriate strategies to support communication, emotional regulation and engagement
Encourage independence, confidence and positive social interactions
Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team to provide consistent support
Monitor the pupil's progress and adapt support according to their individual needsQualifications/Experience

Experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role
Strong subject/curriculum knowledge relevant to the role
Enhanced DBS Certificate with the Update Service
