Supply Desk is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in the Bourne End(SL8) area to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 5 Teacher. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Key Stage 2 teacher to join a nurturing environment and support pupils as they transition into Upper Key Stage 2.
This role would suit a passionate and adaptable teacher with a strong understanding of the Year 5 curriculum, who is committed to delivering engaging lessons and preparing pupils for the challenges of Year 6 and beyond.
The Role
As a Year 5 Teacher, you will play a key role in developing pupils’ academic knowledge, confidence, and independence as they move through Upper Key Stage 2, helping to prepare them for end-of-year expectations and the transition to Year 6.
Key Responsibilities
Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons in line with the Upper Key Stage 2 national curriculum
Supporting pupils’ progress in core subjects (reading, writing, and maths), with increasing focus on depth and mastery
Preparing pupils for the expectations of Year 6, including building exam techniques and resilience
Monitoring and assessing pupil progress, using data to inform teaching and targeted interventions
Creating a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
Providing tailored support for pupils of varying abilities, including those with SEN
Building strong relationships with parents, carers, and colleagues
Working collaboratively with teaching assistants and the wider school team
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – Desirable
Experience teaching within Key Stage 2
Strong understanding of the Upper KS2 curriculum (Year 5 desirable)
Excellent classroom management and organisational skills
A creative, engaging, and structured teaching style
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work full-time in the Hazlemere (HP15) area from September
Desirable
Experience teaching Year 5
Strong understanding of progression through Upper Key Stage 2
Preparation for SATs and Year 6 transition
Experience supporting pupils with additional needs (SEN)
Understanding of assessment and pupil progress tracking
