Yard Supervisor
Location: Sittingbourne
Salary: £17.00 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 4:00pm
Contract: Temporary to Permanent
Job Type: Full-Time
Morgan Jones is currently recruiting for an experienced Yard Supervisor to join a busy and established industrial environment in Sittingbourne.
This is a hands-on supervisory role suited to someone who has previous experience working within a yard, manufacturing, engineering or industrial setting and is confident overseeing day-to-day operations while remaining actively involved on the ground.
You will play an important role in coordinating the yard team, ensuring materials are handled safely and efficiently, and helping to keep daily operations running smoothly.
The Role
* Supervising the day-to-day activities within the yard
* Coordinating and allocating work to the yard team
* Ensuring materials and products are moved, stored and prepared correctly
* Overseeing loading and unloading activities
* Ensuring the yard remains organised, clean and safe
* Operating relevant yard equipment and machinery where required
* Supporting with manual handling and general yard duties
* Monitoring workflow and ensuring daily targets are achieved
* Carrying out regular checks to maintain quality and safety standards
* Ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed
* Reporting any issues or operational concerns to management
* Supporting and guiding team members on a day-to-day basis
* Working closely with other departments to ensure a smooth production process
* Helping to maintain a positive and productive working environment
About You
We're looking for a reliable and confident individual who is comfortable taking responsibility and leading a team within a busy, hands-on environment.
Essential:
* Previous experience within a yard, warehouse, manufacturing, engineering or industrial environment
* Previous supervisory or team-leading experience
* Confident organising workloads and allocating tasks
* Strong understanding of health and safety procedures
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* Physically fit and comfortable with hands-on work
* Reliable, punctual and hardworking
* Good attention to detail
* Able to work independently and use your own initiative
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
* Able to work effectively as part of a team
Desirable:
* Experience within a steel, fabrication or galvanising environment
* Experience operating lifting equipment or overhead cranes
* Previous experience working within a busy industrial yard
* Relevant machinery or equipment qualifications
