Yard Operative (Temp to Perm) - Reading

£13.50 - £14.00 per hour

Working Hours

Monday to Friday only whilst on the temporary contract

Shifts will be either:

7:00am - 4:30pm

or 7:30am - 5:00pm

depending on business needs

Once permanent, you will work 2 Saturdays per month on a rotating 2 on / 2 off basis

Our client, a well established business based in Reading, is currently recruiting for a Yard Operative to join their team on a temporary to permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable and hardworking individual with a valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence who is looking for long-term career prospects within a growing company.

Duties Include

* Assisting customers with selecting and loading building materials while providing excellent customer service and product advice

* Picking and packing stock for company deliveries

* Loading company vehicles accurately and safely

* Unloading supplier vehicles, checking goods in, and putting stock away

* Operating a mixed fleet of diesel and electric FLTs, including multi-directional and Teletruck forklifts, plus loading shovel equipment (full training provided where required)

* Maintaining high standards of housekeeping across the yard and warehouse

* Carrying out daily forklift and plant checks, with weekly cleaning duties

* Supporting wider business operations and assisting other teams when needed

* Playing an active role in supporting the company’s continued growth

Candidate Requirements

* Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence essential

* Full UK Driving Licence essential

* Previous yard, warehouse, or builders merchant experience preferred

* Strong work ethic and team player attitude

* Good communication and customer service skills

* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment safely and efficiently
