This is a hands-on management role overseeing the day-to-day running of the fleet workshop, with responsibility for a team of HGV Technicians, a Workshop Supervisor and an Administrator. The successful candidate will also be required to support the Bristol depot and must be happy to travel between sites.

The successful Workshop Manager should have:

Proven experience in a managerial role, including handling employee matters such as interviews, investigations and grievances.

A City & Guilds HGV Parts 1, 2 and 3 qualification, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
A strong technical understanding of HGV maintenance, including hydraulics, pneumatics, electrics and mechanical systems.
Knowledge of vehicle compliance requirements, ideally including R2C and LOLER inspection systems.
In this role, the Workshop Manager will be responsible for:

Managing and supporting the workshop team to ensure an efficient, productive and professional service.
Overseeing vehicle availability, maintenance schedules and workshop labour to minimise vehicle downtime.
Ensuring fleet maintenance records, vehicle documentation and compliance systems are maintained accurately and completed on time.
Maintaining high standards of workshop housekeeping, health and safety, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
Balancing customer service requirements with commercial objectives, providing clear technical guidance and promoting safe working practices.
Our client is offering the successful Workshop Manager a competitive salary, alongside the opportunity to take ownership of a busy fleet workshop supporting operations across Cheltenham and Bristol.

The working hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00am–4:30pm, with alternate Saturdays from 7:00am–11:30am.

If you are an experienced workshop professional with strong leadership skills and a solid background in HGV maintenance, apply now to discuss this opportunity further. We want to hear from candidates who can lead a team, maintain high compliance standards and help keep a busy fleet operating efficiently.
