Description:
Our client, an established national manufacturing company, has a requirement for a motivated, proactive, and hands-on Workshop Manager to ensure the smooth and efficient operations within the workshop.
Reporting directly to the Production Director, duties to include:
* Understanding and implementation of Company policies and procedures.
* Ensure clear and timely internal and external communication.
* Execute the Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental objectives of the organisation.
* Develop safe work procedures and ensure adherence to Health, Safety and Environmental regulations.
* Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for workshop activities.
* Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety and compliance.
* Support and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and other external partners to achieve operational objectives.
* Monitor and report on KPIs to track department operational objectives and identify areas for improvement.
* Write detailed lifting plans for the safe handling and movement of equipment and materials.
* Managing development, implementation and continual improvement of the operating methods, equipment, systems, and other operating infrastructure used to realise operating goals and objectives.
* Development of production work schedules to meet internal goals and customer expectations; monitoring process and personnel performance of scheduled work activities to remove operating impediments and achieve established operating goals.
* Assign work orders and tasks based on priorities, skills, and workload.
* Ensure the compliance of all regulatory guidelines and implement and maintain a safe manufacturing environment for all workshop operational activities.
* Supervising all aspects of assembly and testing operations for the business to produce cost-effective, timely and high-quality products in a safe and secure working environment.
* Develop, coach and mentor the workshop team, especially the team of apprentices.
* Working alongside the existing management team to provide feedback and coaching.
* Identify training needs and facilitate professional development opportunities.
* Responsible for translating the company's vision into actionable strategies.
* Work alongside the workshop technicians in all workshop activities.
* Working with typical workshop machinery and equipment, e.g. forklift trucks, cherry pickers etc.
As an ideal applicant you will have a background in a manufacturing and or workshop environment and experience of H&S, quality management and standards. You will also possess a meticulous work ethic, excellent communication & management qualities together with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
