Workshop Controller
Location: Faversham, Kent
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 DOE
Hours: Monday to Friday with optional Saturday mornings

Our client is a well-established commercial vehicle business with over 50 years of experience within the haulage industry. Due to continued growth and the recent opening of a second workshop site, they are now looking to recruit an experienced Workshop Controller to oversee the day-to-day operations across both workshops.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing, close-knit business where you'll be given the autonomy to take ownership of the role, implement your own ideas and play a key part in the company's continued expansion.

The role will involve travelling between both workshop sites on a regular basis, ensuring the smooth running of each operation and maintaining consistent standards across the business.

The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the workflow and organisation of two busy workshop sites, ensuring repairs and servicing are completed efficiently while maintaining excellent communication with both technicians and customers.

This role would suit someone who enjoys taking responsibility, improving processes and leading workshop operations in a fast-paced commercial vehicle environment.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the daily operation of two commercial vehicle workshops.
Travel regularly between both workshop sites to provide operational support and maintain efficient workshop performance.
Act as the main point of contact for workshop technicians and customers.
Plan and coordinate workshop schedules to maximise productivity and minimise downtime.
Manage the booking and completion of servicing, repairs, MOT preparation and Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs).
Organise off-site MOT appointments and ensure vehicles are prepared and presented on time.
Coordinate work across a diverse fleet including HGVs, vans, trailers and plant vehicles.
Maximise the use of the R2C workshop management system, including advanced scheduling of MOTs and PMIs.
Keep customers informed of vehicle progress, repair updates and expected completion times.
Ensure all workshop administration and job records are maintained accurately.
Progress into responsibility for parts ordering and stock management as the role develops.
Lead and organise workshop teams, calendars and workload to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
The Ideal Candidate
Applicants must have:

Previous experience as a Workshop Controller, Workshop Manager or similar position.
Proven experience within the HGV or commercial vehicle industry.
A strong understanding of workshop operations, servicing and repair processes.
Excellent organisational and planning skills.
The ability to prioritise workloads across multiple workshop locations.
Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
Experience using workshop management systems; knowledge of R2C would be advantageous but is not essential.
A proactive attitude with the confidence to take ownership of the role and drive improvements.
What's on Offer

Salary of £40,000 - £45,000, depending on experience.
Monday to Friday working hours with optional Saturday mornings.
Use of a company vehicle and/or fuel card.
The opportunity to join a successful and expanding commercial vehicle business.
A position offering genuine autonomy, where you'll be encouraged to shape the role and improve operational processes.
Clear opportunities for career progression as the business continues to grow
