Work Placement Development Officer(Construction)

£30,842 pro rata, per annum

37 hours per week / 52 weeks per year (or flexible hours considered) Temporary, 6 Month Fixed Term Contract

The Role

We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Work Placement Development Officer (Construction) to support the delivery of work placements for full-time students studying construction trades, including Plumbing, Electrical Installation, Joinery and Brickwork.

This is a 6-month fixed-term contract focused on building and strengthening relationships with construction employers across the region to secure high-quality industry placements.

The successful candidate will work closely with curriculum teams, employers and Business Development colleagues to ensure students gain valuable workplace experience and support the College’s strategic objective of achieving 100% work placement participation for construction students by June 2027.

The postholder will identify, develop and manage employer partnerships, coordinate placement activity, monitor learner progress and ensure all placements meet quality, safeguarding and health and safety requirements. You will play a key role in promoting the value of industry placements to employers and learners, helping to create meaningful opportunities that enhance students’ employability skills and future career prospects.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for an organised and proactive individual with excellent administration skills and experience of coordinating, managing and monitoring a varied and demanding workload. You will be confident in managing multiple priorities, maintaining accurate records and ensuring that placement activity is delivered effectively and efficiently.

The successful candidate will have experience of communicating and working with employers from a range of sectors and organisations, building positive relationships that support mutually beneficial outcomes. You will be skilled at developing effective partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders and able to work collaboratively to achieve shared objectives.

You will possess strong organisational skills and the ability to plan and implement a programme of employer visits alongside administrative responsibilities. A flexible and professional approach is essential, together with the ability to work as part of a team to achieve performance targets and contribute to the success of the College’s work placement strategy.

The role requires a willingness and ability to travel to employer sites and attend appointments across the UK as required. Above all, you will be enthusiastic about supporting students to gain valuable industry experience and committed to helping them develop the skills, confidence and knowledge needed for future employment
