Duration: Temporary, lasting 4-6 weeks
Hours: 9am - 5:30pm Monday to Thursday with a 5pm finish on Fridays (37 hours per week)
Salary: £15.60 - £23.39 per hour dependent on experience

Polytec are seeking an experienced Wirer / Electro-mechanical Technician to join our central Cambridge based client. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and installing complex cable harnesses and wire assemblies to exacting industry standards. Due to the nature of the work, candidates will need to have security clearance.

Responsibilities:
- Manufacture and assemble cable harnesses, wiring looms and electrical assemblies to detailed engineering drawings, schematics and build documents
- Complete a variety of electrical assembly processes, including cable preparation, stripping, crimping, soldering and lacing
- Work to defined quality standards and ensure all assemblies meet the requirements of IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620
- Inspect completed assemblies and undertake continuity and functional testing using a variety of test equipment
- Investigate and rectify wiring and assembly issues, working alongside Production and Engineering to identify practical solutions
- Maintain accurate and consistent workmanship while meeting agreed production schedules and quality requirements
- Contribute to a safe, organised and efficient working environment and support continuous improvement activities where required

Requirements:
- At least 2 years' relevant experience in electrical assembly, wiring, cable harness manufacture or a similar manufacturing environment
- Level 3 Electrical qualification or an equivalent recognised apprenticeship qualification
- Valid IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 certifications would be preferred
- Strong ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings and technical instructions
- Hands-on experience with cable termination, crimping and soldering techniques
- Knowledge of ESD controls and safe working practices within an electrical or electronic manufacturing environment
- A methodical approach to work, with excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on quality
- Good practical skills and manual dexterity, with the ability to work accurately on detailed and delicate assemblies
- Confident working independently while also contributing effectively within a wider production and engineering team
