Description:
Execution of planned operation and maintenance activities on privately owned HV networks,
including routine inspections and intrusive switchgear maintenance, including out of hours
work.
∙Execution of HV project and remedial activities including substation fitting, for example
switchgear and transformer installation / replacement, earthing installation and network
alterations, and the installation of structures and equipment
∙To be appointed as a competent person to execute a range of engineering tasks under the
guidance of Customer Networks Engineers.
∙Work effectively with sub-contract staff providing support with specialist activities.
∙Take responsibility for company issue tools, vehicle, equipment, and PPE ensuring
inspection, calibration and testing are all carried out when required.
∙Liaise effectively between the Major projects and Customer Networks Business and other
departments.
∙Ensure all site documentation is completed and return in a prompt manner and to a high
standard.
∙Communicate in a technically accurate and professional manner with customers and
colleagues and be willing to seek assistance / guidance from peers when necessary.
∙Take a flexible and proactive approach to work, whilst working within your own
competencies, assisting with the Major Projects and Customer Networks Business unit as
required. This may involve work at higher voltages and on emerging technologies.
Requirements
∙3-5 years practical electrical fitting experience.
∙EHV substation construction fitting.
∙Appropriate electrical qualification such as City & Guilds, NVQ, ONC, HNC, BTEC or
equivalent.
∙Craft training by a recognised provider for a range of tasks relevant to the role.
∙5 GCSE’s grade A-C/ 9-4, or equivalent, including Maths, English and Physics.
∙Good IT skills.
∙Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
∙Full UK driving licence
