Location: Bromley
Department: Social Work and Welfare
Tenure/Hours: 28.8 hours per week
Salary: £29,272 – £30,900 pro-rata
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and knowledgeable welfare officer to work in our multi-disciplinary team.
The role
* You will be responsible for ensuring the rights and entitlements of patients and families accessing palliative care are upheld and that best possible outcomes are achieved in context their economic wellbeing.
* You will develop relationships with people accessing our service, to assess unmet financial need and support with a wide range of financial and practical issues including welfare benefits, debt management, grant applications, pension and insurance claims and housing issues.
To succeed in this role
* You will have substantial experience of working in a social welfare setting
* possess excellent problem-solving skills.
* You will ensure effective support is given to people experiencing multiple issues relating to the financial impact of living with long-term illness and palliative care needs.
* You will demonstrate a creative, flexible and progressive approach to the work, ensuring your own and the teams continued learning and development.
* You will boast sound wisdom of welfare rights and other entitlements for disabled people and their carers, and you will be confident in liaising with government and non-government services to maximise income for those in need of financial assistance.
