School Welfare Officer – Southall
Location: Southall, West London
Start Date: 2nd September 2026
Contract: Temporary contract with the potential to become permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
A school in Southall is seeking a caring, proactive and experienced Welfare Officer to join their team from 2nd September 2026. This is initially a temporary contract with the potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the welfare, health and wellbeing of pupils across the school. You will work closely with pupils, parents/carers, staff and external professionals to ensure that pupils receive appropriate support and that welfare concerns are dealt with promptly and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Providing day-to-day welfare and pastoral support to pupils
Managing and responding to pupil medical and welfare needs
Administering first aid and responding to accidents and illnesses
Maintaining accurate and confidential welfare and medical records
Liaising with parents/carers regarding pupil welfare and health matters
Supporting pupils with their emotional wellbeing and pastoral needs
Working closely with safeguarding and pastoral teams where concerns arise
Supporting the implementation of appropriate care plans and welfare procedures
Maintaining a safe, caring and supportive environment for all pupils
Working collaboratively with school staff and external agencies where requiredThe Successful Candidate Will:
Have previous experience working in a school or educational setting
Hold an Enhanced DBS
Hold a current and valid First Aid certificate
Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
Be caring, approachable and able to build positive relationships with pupils
Be confident handling sensitive and confidential information
Be organised, reliable and able to work effectively as part of a wider school team
