Hours: Monday-Thursday 07:30-16:30, Friday 07:30-13:30

The Opportunity
Nicholas Associates are delighted to be recruiting for an exciting opportunity for a Welding & Fabrication Team Leader to join a successful and growing manufacturing business based in Hoyland, Barnsley.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Welder/Fabricator, Welding Supervisor or Team Leader looking to take the next step in their career, combining hands-on technical knowledge with team leadership responsibilities.
The successful candidate will take ownership of a designated welding and fabrication production area, leading a multi-skilled team and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
The Role
As Welding & Fabrication Team Leader, you will be responsible for:
Leading, organising and supporting a multi-skilled welding and fabrication team.
Allocating work and balancing workloads to meet daily production requirements.
Driving production targets and ensuring output KPIs are achieved.
Providing guidance and technical support to team members.
Conducting daily team briefings and maintaining clear communication across the department.
Supporting hands-on welding and fabrication activities when required.
Ensuring components and fabrications are produced accurately and to specification.
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Monitoring quality throughout the production process and addressing defects.
Ensuring welding and fabrication work meets required commercial quality standards.
Maintaining high standards of health and safety across the workshop.
Supporting risk assessments, COSHH and manual handling procedures
Experience required
Previous experience within a welding and fabrication environment.
Strong practical welding and fabrication skills.
Experience working with MIG and/or TIG welding; MMA experience would be advantageous.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Previous experience leading, supervising or mentoring a team.
Ability to organise workloads and allocate tasks effectively.
Good understanding of health and safety procedures within a workshop or manufacturing environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Ability to identify and resolve production or quality issues.
Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S or continuous improvement would be advantageous.
Good communication and organisational skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Comfortable taking a hands-on approach when required.
Willingness to support and develop other members of the team.
Reliable, proactive and able to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.About Us
