Grade 6 – £32,765 - £35,523 per annum including local weighting depending on experience. Full time 37 hours per week. Permanent. Based at BEAM (formerly Hertford Theatre).

About the role

An exciting opportunity for Welcome Team Duty Managers has become available to work at BEAM (formerly Hertford Theatre) as part of the new team relaunching the building after a 4-year hiatus and a £30m redevelopment. This is a great time for you to join us and develop your career as we seek to strengthen and deepen our food and beverage offer, the programme of theatre, live events, films and community work in our 547-seat theatre, 150-seat studio theatre, dance studio, community room and 3 dedicated cinemas.

The successful candidate will be part of a team of Duty Managers overseeing the day-to-day delivery of the food and beverage operation. When acting as the Duty Manager, you will lead the Welcome Team and be the open, friendly, knowledgeable face of BEAM, ensuring the smooth running of operations throughout the venue.

This role requires the successful candidate to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.

What will you be doing?

Some of the key responsibilities include:

- Point of contact for all Beam staff on shift – ensuring the Welcome Team and volunteers are deployed effectively throughout the building including all venues and both Bar areas so that staffing is adequate for the level of activity taking place.
- Point of contact for all visiting companies, individuals, hirers.
- Responsible for ensuring all spaces are set up and reset to consistent standards, liaising with duty technicians on each event.
- Provide high standards of customer care at all times.
- To be familiar with the venue’s ever changing artistic offer of shows, films, and events.
- To be familiar with the food and beverage menu and serve drinks, food and confectionery across the building.
- To maintain the required level of cleanliness across all front of house and back of house areas as required by the Hospitality and Operations Manager (including equipment, washrooms, rooms for hire, and auditoria).
- Assist with stock taking and stock ordering as required.
- Support the practical delivery of films across the building as necessary.
- Report any unsafe practices, broken machinery/equipment to the Line Manager.

About you

This role will suit individuals with

- A friendly and professional manner, bags of enthusiasm!
- Experience of working in a supervisory or management role in a busy, public-facing hospitality, retail or arts and culture environment.
- Experience of food and beverage preparation and service.
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable but training will be given.
