Weekend Lodge Porter
Salary £29,150 Pro-Rata plus benefits
Permanent, Part Time - 16 hours per week
Location: Oxford
We have an exciting opportunity for a Weekend Lodge Porter to join the Rhodes Trust, Oxford. This role will be based in the East Lodge at Rhodes House and is responsible for the efficient running of the Porter, reception and related areas.
We are looking for the successful candidate to start with us as soon as possible.

The role
The Weekend Lodge Porter will be based in the East Lodge at Rhodes House and is responsible for the efficient running of the Porter, reception and related areas. This role will be the first point of contact for all visitors including members of the general public, Scholars, Trustees, staff and visitors therefore the post holder must provide a first-class service, whilst maintaining the professional and positive image of the Trust.
The role will be responsible for;
Front of House
* Responsible for delivering professional customer service to all building users.
* Welcome visitors to the House and provide assistance where necessary, such as directing them to the appropriate area, issuing visitor passes and arranging transportation from the House for staff and guests.

Events
* Safety and logistics of commercial and Trust events, working with on-site caterers and ensuring function rooms are set-up prior to the start of each event with the furniture and equipment as detailed in the Running Sheet, with flexibility for last minute amendments.

Maintenance and cleaning
* Working with onsite management team, assist in the weekend delivery of all housekeeping operations across the building
* Co-ordinate and assist as directed emergency maintenance problems by liaising with contractors and supervising any on-site contractors and checks that maintenance work is inspected and deemed satisfactory.

Health, Safety & Security
* To serve as a member of the House emergency response team coordinating responders.
* Alert relevant staff of security or building issues.
* Assist in building evacuations and invacuations when Alarms have been activated, liaising with Oxford University Security Services (OUSS) and emergency services as and when needed.

Training
The Weekend Porter will need to become qualified, if not already so, in the following, (the Trust will meet the cost of this and any other training required for the role):
* Emergency First Aid at Work (or other First Aid training course if required)
* Fire Marshal
* Emergency Evacuation training
* Manual handling training
* Defibrillator training
* Undertake other training as required
* Any other iHASCO modules relevant to the role
Other

Carrying out any other duties relevant to the role, as requested.

Essential skills, experience and qualifications:
* Experience of working in a customer-facing environment, ideally within a reception or security role
* An understanding of Health and Safety in the workplace
* Experience of working within a small team
* Have a proactive and enthusiastic attitude
* Possess a high conversational standard of spoken English.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to create good working relationships with people at all levels across the Trust.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for meeting new people
* Be presentable and approachable
* Be able to work without direct supervision

Desirable skills and experience:
* Porter or Security experience
* IT proficiency in MS Outlook and Word
* Relevant Customer Service Qualification
