Weapon System Electrical Integration Architect
Permanent | Bristol | Hybrid Working

A leading engineering and technology organisation is seeking a Weapon System Electrical Integration Architect to join a high-profile advanced defence programme. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in integrating complex electrical equipment into a next-generation weapon system, ensuring seamless performance across multiple suppliers, subsystems, and engineering disciplines.

Offering a blend of technical leadership, systems integration, and supplier engagement, this role is ideal for engineers who enjoy influencing technical direction and working at the system level rather than detailed circuit design.

Salary & Benefits

Competitive salary
Performance-related annual bonus
Generous pension contribution scheme
Paid overtime opportunities
Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
Additional annual leave entitlement through flexi-leave scheme
Enhanced family-friendly policies
Healthcare cash plan
Subsidised meals, free parking, and excellent onsite facilities
The Opportunity
As the Electrical Integration Architect, you will act as the technical authority for electrical interfaces between the weapon system and associated equipment. You will ensure electrical design intent, performance requirements, and integration constraints are aligned across the wider system architecture.
Working closely with internal engineering teams and external equipment suppliers, you will translate system-level requirements into clear technical expectations, supporting successful delivery, integration, verification, and acceptance activities throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Act as the primary technical interface between the weapon system and equipment suppliers
Ensure electrical compatibility and integrity across subsystems and overall system architecture
Support system integration, verification, validation, and acceptance activities
Define, manage, and develop electrical requirements throughout the project lifecycle
Own and manage supplier Statements of Work (SOWs)
Lead technical reviews, design reviews, and supplier progress meetings
Monitor delivery against cost, schedule, performance, and quality objectives
Collaborate within multi-disciplinary engineering teams including systems, software, mechanical and power engineering functions
Identify and mitigate technical risks and issues
Support decisions regarding equipment reuse, modification, or new design implementation
Ensure compliance with applicable electrical standards, regulations, and certification requirements
Candidate Requirements
Applicants should be able to demonstrate:

Strong understanding of systems engineering and complex system integration
Experience defining and managing system, subsystem, or equipment-level requirements
Background in electrical integration, power distribution, electrical equipment, or related engineering disciplines
Experience managing technical work packages or engaging with external suppliers
Knowledge of verification, validation, and certification processes
Experience producing technical documentation and working within controlled engineering environments
Practical understanding of electrical systems, interfaces, wiring, and power architectures
Experience within highly regulated industries such as defence, aerospace, maritime, transportation, energy, or other complex engineering sectors would be advantageous.

Security Requirements
Due to the nature of the work, applicants must be eligible to obtain the appropriate level of UK security clearance. Eligibility and right-to-work requirements will apply.

Apply
If you're an experienced systems or electrical engineer looking to take ownership of complex integration challenges within a cutting-edge engineering programme, we'd be interested in hearing from you
