Description:
We are currently recruiting for a leading and prestigious Transport and Logistics company for their site located in Wisbech, due to their continued success, growth, and development they are seeking to employ a Warehouse Supervisor to start as soon as possible.
This is an ongoing role potentially leading to permanent for the right candidate.
Shift is 4 on 4 off 6am – 6pm
£16 per hour
Reporting directly to the Warehouse Manager.
Main Purpose of the Role
Support the Warehouse Manager to ensure effective running of the Warehouse operation, including oversee the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of all products. Management of the shift, processes, and systems to make sure productivity targets are met. Overseeing the data input of the warehouse and labour-management systems to achieve own accountabilities and optimum operational performance.
Essential requirements:
Proven experience of working within a warehouse and distribution managing role (Min of 2 years)
Mature, professional approach, confidence to communicate and deal with all levels of people both internally and externally up to and including director level.
Desire to develop a career in Management / Leadership
Proven strong Influencing skills with internal and external stakeholders.
Excellent numerical skills and a sound understanding and management of budgets.
Excellent organisational and planning skills working on your own or within a team.
Confidence to present to an audience, including briefings to employees and customers and delivery of financial updates to the Board members.
PC literate - Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint and Transport IT/ web-based systems.
Have the ability to think quickly on your feet and to confidently make decisions.
Be flexible in your approach to work and hours.

Duties & responsibilities
Take a leadership role in supporting with the management of planning, coordinating, administration, and general management activities, on the shift, which includes:
Looking after all office-based administration duties and tasks to meet the customer requirements.
Ensure that systems in place to generate short- and long-term plans within the warehousing facility, in conjunction with the Warehouse Manager
Checking and rectification of any system related issues
Organisation of delivery and collection of loads on shift in conjunction with the transport plan
Stock reconciliation for site customers as and when required
Booking in of goods for customers
Introduce new ideas that improve the utilisation of labour and capacity within the warehouse.
liaising with customers, suppliers, and transport companies
Management of space and mechanical handling equipment efficiently and making sure quality targets and environmental objectives are met.
Cost control
Minimise overtime on shift and effective plan labour for all shifts.
Providing the Warehouse manager with all hours worked from previous week.
People Management
Manage and organise the allocation of workload within the warehouse team, ensuring that there is a safe working environment. Including the following:
Leading by example and keeping staff motivated
Effective Performance management of operational teams
Management of absence of personnel
Conduct Disciplinary investigations and hearings
Communication
Monitor the shipments in order to provide delivery information and communicate to relevant internal/external customer in a timely manner should issues require escalation.
Liaise directly and in a timely manner with internal/external customer to advise them of issues or delays along with planned corrective action, to maintain a two-way communication flow and minimise customer dissatisfaction. Including:
Communicate to customer service team on any service-related issues to achieve resolution.
Have a clear understanding of the company's policies and vision and how the warehouse contributes to these.
Consult with other departments within the business.
Attend meetings with other shifts and customers as and when required
Effective communication and feedback to your teams
Encouraging teamwork within the workplace by displaying the correct behaviours towards all members of the teams
Maintaining standards of health and safety, hygiene, and security in the work environment, for example, ensuring that stock such as chemicals and food are stored safely and securely and reporting of any concerns to the Warehouse Manager
