Warehouse Operative - Retail Line
Leith, Edinburgh
£30,500 - £32,000 per annum DOE | Weekly Pay | Temporary to Permanent Opportunity

Manpower Scotland is recruiting on behalf of a well-established client based in Leith, Edinburgh for a Warehouse Operative to join their busy retail line operation. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a fast-paced warehouse environment with a respected employer that is committed to developing and investing in its workforce.
This role will initially be offered on a temporary basis for approximately 12 weeks. Following a successful temporary period, candidates will have the opportunity to transfer to a permanent contract with the client.

The client is also committed to supporting long-term career development and is willing to put successful candidates through their Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence. Previous Counterbalance experience or a valid licence would be advantageous, but is not essential.

This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, thrive in a busy environment, and take pride in maintaining high standards of accuracy and productivity.

Working Hours
Initial Training Period

Approximately 8 weeks on day shift for training and onboarding purposes

Shift Pattern Following Training

Monday to Friday

Rotating shifts:

Back Shift: 2:00pm - 10:00pm

Night Shift: 10:00pm - 6:00am

Night shift rotation is required approximately one week in every five weeks

Salary

£30,500 - £32,000 per annum, depending on experience

Weekly pay whilst temporary

The Role

As a Warehouse Operative, you will play a key role in supporting the efficient running of the retail line and warehouse operation. The role involves a variety of warehouse tasks and requires a proactive, hands-on approach.
Key responsibilities include:

Working on a busy retail production line

Picking and packing products accurately to customer requirements

Labelling, sorting, and preparing products for dispatch

Palletising and wrapping finished goods

Loading and unloading stock safely

Conducting quality checks to ensure products meet company standards

Maintaining stock accuracy and supporting inventory activities

Using handheld scanners and warehouse systems where required

Keeping work areas clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety procedures

Assisting with general warehouse duties as required

About You
The successful candidate will be:

Comfortable working in a fast-paced warehouse environment

Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards

Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual handling duties throughout the shift

A strong team player with a positive attitude and good work ethic

Able to work independently and follow instructions accurately

Flexible and willing to support different areas of the operation when required

Willing to work rotational shifts, including scheduled night shifts

Essential Skills & Experience

Previous warehouse, production, retail line, or manufacturing experience

Experience with picking, packing, palletising, or order preparation

Good attention to detail and accuracy

Understanding of warehouse health and safety procedures

Ability to work efficiently in a target-driven environment

Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team

Desirable Skills

Experience working within a retail, FMCG, logistics, or distribution environment

Experience using handheld scanners or warehouse management systems

Previous experience working rotational shifts

Counterbalance Forklift Truck experience or a current Counterbalance licence
