About the Company
Our client is a leading global logistics and freight forwarding organisation providing end-to-end supply chain solutions across air, ocean, road, and contract logistics. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Warehouse Operative to join their busy Heathrow air cargo operation.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced warehouse professional looking to develop a career within the air freight industry. The successful candidate will initially join the warehouse team before undertaking Cargo Operative Screening (COS) X-Ray training, enabling them to play a vital role in ensuring cargo is handled safely, securely, and in line with UK aviation security regulations.
Freight Warehouse Operative - The Details
Starting salary of £27,500, increasing to £30,500 upon successful completion of Cargo Operative Screening (COS) X-Ray training
42.5 hours per week
Initial training period of approximately 6-8 weeks, working 09:00 - 17:30
Weekly rotating shifts following training:
08:00 - 16:30
09:00 - 17:30
11:30 - 20:00
Quarterly profit-sharing bonus scheme following successful completion of probation (subject to company performance)
Overtime paid at 1.5x hourly rate Monday to Saturday and 2x hourly rate on Sundays
Full Cargo Operative Screening (COS) training provided

Minimum 2 years' warehouse experience
Previous experience within a freight forwarding or air cargo warehouse would be highly advantageous
Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence
Knowledge of Unit Load Device (ULD) build-up and breakdown is desirable
Ability to work accurately within a busy operational environment
Good communication and teamwork skills
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and compliance
Flexible approach to rotating shift patterns
Physically fit and capable of carrying out manual handling duties
Ability to successfully complete Cargo Operative Screening (COS) training and obtain the required aviation security clearance Freight Warehouse Operative - Responsibilities
Receive, unload, process and dispatch air freight safely and efficiently
Operate counterbalance forklift trucks and other warehouse equipment in accordance with company procedures
Load, unload, move and store freight within the warehouse
Build and break down Unit Load Devices (ULDs) where required
Complete Cargo Operative Screening (COS) using X-Ray equipment following successful training
Ensure all cargo complies with UK aviation security regulations and company procedures
Identify and report any prohibited, damaged or suspicious cargo
Complete warehouse documentation accurately and maintain system records
Work closely with warehouse, transport and operations teams to ensure customer deadlines are achieved
Maintain excellent housekeeping standards throughout the warehouse
Follow all Health & Safety, security and operational procedures
Support continuous improvement initiatives and assist colleagues where required to ensure the smooth running of the operation About Us
