A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced “hands on” Warehouse Manager to join our client, J Wood Leathers Ltd.  The business is a family run UK based supplier and wholesaler of leather and hides established over 25 years ago. 
Holding one of the largest stocks of high quality leather skins in the UK available to purchase and buy online with all leather and hides are sourced from reliable and sustainable tanneries worldwide.

In 2013, their leather merchant business relocated to Steeton, West Yorkshire. The new building has given the space and opportunity to expand their core range of leathers with the intention to expand ranges further.

The Warehouse Manager carries out a crucial role within J Wood Leathers and we are seeking a highly organised and proactive individual to oversee the warehouse's function in terms of inventory management, and operational efficiency to ensure a high level of customer service.

As the Warehouse Manager, candidates will have a proven track record within warehousing and material handling in a distribution environment.  The individual will need strong IT skills coupled with a thorough understanding of Stock Control Processes, HSE and good leadership.

8:30am to 5:00pm - Monday to Thursday
8:30am to 4:00pm - Friday

Key Responsibilities:

Maintaining computerised administration, stock inventory and retrieval systems.
Undertake prompt corrective action to prevent the repetition of adverse conditions that can affect product quality.
Managing staff, building teams, training employees and monitoring production performance, ensuring that all despatch disciplines and good housekeeping are maintained.
Liaise via telephone & email with courier and transport companies to organise, and track deliveries where necessary ensuring goods arrive at the intended destination, within specified time limits.
Assist with the processing, packing, and dispatching of orders on a daily basis.
Complete regular stock counts. 
Supervise and assist with regular rotation and top up of stocks and picking areas.
Book in all stock deliveries, offloading deliveries (with fork lift as required), managing warehouse storage. Report any delivery discrepancies, including short deliveries or damaged goods.
To respond professionally and expediently to any contact with customers or suppliers. 
Ensure that all health & safety procedures are upheld. Including regular risk assessment. 
Must be good at working as part of a team, in a leadership role. 
Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health and safety policy, and other requirements relating to care of equipment.
Continue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role.
Manage and respond to any communications received from customers in a timely manner.
Arrange for any servicing & repairs that may be required to building or machinery. 
Ensure outside waste & pallet storage areas are maintainedEssential Experience and Competencies:

Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Management role within a Warehouse/Logistics environment.
Strong team working and organisational skills.
Understanding of Health & Safety including Environmental issues and legislation and is able to carry out risk assessments and produce safe working methods.
IT Literate - Proficient in Microsoft Suite.Desirable

Sage experience
FLT license
Health and Safety/First aid training desirable
