About the Role

Are you calm under pressure, dependable, and passionate about keeping children safe? We're looking for a Waking Night Residential Support Worker to join our team, providing overnight care and safeguarding for the children and young people living in our residential home.

This is a vital role you'll be the constant, reassuring presence through the night, making sure every child feels safe, secure, and supported until morning.

What You'll Be Doing

Night Care & Supervision

Remaining awake and alert throughout your shift
Carrying out regular welfare checks in line with care plans and risk assessments
Supporting children who wake during the night, offering reassurance and assistance
Maintaining a calm, safe, and settled night-time environment
Supporting bedtime and morning routines where requiredSafeguarding & Safety

Monitoring children identified as vulnerable overnight
Responding immediately to safeguarding concerns or incidents
Managing missing-from-home incidents in line with procedures
Maintaining building security and monitoring access to the home
Carrying out fire safety checks and emergency procedures
Responding appropriately to medical or emotional crisesProfessional Practice

Following care plans, behaviour strategies, and risk assessments
Maintaining professional boundaries at all times
Demonstrating calm, confident decision-making when lone working
Upholding safeguarding standards throughout every shiftRecording & Accountability

Completing detailed night reports and incident recordings
Maintaining accurate monitoring logs
Providing clear handovers, written and verbal, to day staff
Escalating concerns promptly to on-call managementTeam & Partnership Working

Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistent care practices
Communicating effectively and sharing relevant information
Taking direction from team leaders and managers while using initiative appropriately
Participating in supervision, training, and team meetings
Engaging respectfully with families, social workers, education staff, and other professionals
Supporting children to maintain important relationships where appropriateYour Development

We invest in our staff. You'll undertake mandatory training and be supported to work towards your Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (if not already achieved), alongside ongoing professional development.
