Working Days and Hours: Monday to Friday, hours to be confirmed, likely to be 9am to 5pm
* Work a shift system incorporating unsociable hours every 4th week
* Overtime is available in addition to enhanced payment for winter maintenance call-out duties
Key Responsibilities:
* Operate a range of vehicles, from cars to HGVs and plant, including forklift trucks
* Undertake inspections, repairs, servicing, and maintenance of vehicles and plant
* Diagnose faults and perform effective repairs
* Carry out electrical repairs on vehicles
* Attend and assist in the recovery of breakdowns across the borough
* Use welding, heating, abrasive, and cutting tools as required
* Operate lifting equipment
* Maintain care of tools and equipment
* Participate in training as advised by Line Manager
* Take responsibility for own and others’ health and safety
* Communicate and interact positively with other service users and employees at all levels within the Council
* Work independently without supervision
* Perform any other duties allocated that are appropriate to the grade of the post
Role Profile - Vehicle Workshire Fitter Criteria:
Appropriate City & Guilds Motor Vehicle Maintenance qualifications or equivalent (including Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle maintenance) or willingness to work towards
Full current driving license
Experience with light welding and vehicle/equipment recovery
Proficient in driving a range of vehicle types
Skilled in maintaining and repairing a range of vehicles
Effective oral and written communication skills
