Vehicle Technician – Up to £45,000 Basic
Chelmsford, Essex
Permanent / Full Time
Salary: Up to £45,000 basic, depending on experience
Working Hours:

Monday to Friday: 8:00am – 5:30pm
*
Currently 1 in 3 Saturdays: 8:00am – 1:00pm
*
Proposed change to 1 Saturday per month: 8:00am – 1:00pm
Enjoy getting stuck into proper diagnostic and mechanical work?
We're looking for an experienced Vehicle Technician to join a well-established independent specialist workshop in the Chelmsford area.
This isn't a role where you'll spend every day carrying out basic servicing and changing tyres.
There's plenty of diagnostic work, fault finding and more involved mechanical repairs, including engine strip-downs. So, if you're an experienced Technician who enjoys a challenge, likes getting to the bottom of tricky faults and takes pride in doing the job properly, this could be right up your street.
You'll be joining a workshop that works on a variety of vehicles, with a particular focus on German marques.
What you'll be doing

Carrying out vehicle servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs
*
Diagnosing and resolving electrical and mechanical faults
*
Undertaking more complex repairs, including engine strip-downs and component replacement
*
Using diagnostic equipment to identify faults accurately
*
Working independently and as part of the workshop team
*
Maintaining high standards of workmanship and attention to detail
What we're looking for
*
At least 5 years' solid experience as a Vehicle Technician
*
Strong diagnostic and mechanical repair skills
*
Experience beyond routine servicing and fast-fit work
*
Confidence tackling more complicated mechanical jobs
*
A good understanding of modern vehicle systems
*
Your own tools
*
A full, clean UK driving licence
*
A reliable, practical approach and pride in your work
Previous experience in a main dealership or independent specialist workshop would be particularly suitable.
