Job Summary:
The Vehicle Mechanical Assistant supports automotive mechanics and technicians in the maintenance, repair, and servicing of vehicles. This role involves assisting with various mechanical tasks, ensuring vehicles are maintained to a high standard. The position requires a good understanding of vehicle mechanics, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Repair:
Assist in performing routine maintenance on vehicles, including oil changes, tyre changes, and bulb changes
Help diagnose and repair mechanical issues, including engine, transmission, and electrical problems.
Support senior mechanics in more complex repair tasks, ensuring all work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.
Vehicle Inspection:
Conduct initial inspections of vehicles to identify potential issues.
Report any findings to senior mechanics and document necessary repairs.
Parts and Tools Management:
Assist in managing inventory of parts and supplies, ensuring necessary items are available for repairs.
Prepare and organize tools and materials required for mechanical tasks.
Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and reporting any needs for repair or replacement.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of services performed, including parts used and time taken for each task.
Complete necessary paperwork for vehicle servicing and repair jobs.
Provide clear and detailed reports to senior mechanics and supervisors.
Qualifications and Skills:
Basic understanding of vehicle mechanics and repair techniques.
Level 2 Qualifications in Motor Vehicle Mechanics
Prior experience in an automotive repair shop or similar setting is preferred.
Ability to use hand tools and diagnostic equipment effectively.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects.
