Vehicle Diagnostic Author

This is a permanent, full-time role based in Gaydon. Hybrid working is available.

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Vehicle Diagnostic Author to join a collaborative and professional team supporting a leading automotive OEM. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in vehicle diagnostics and a strong understanding of automotive electronic systems who are passionate about creating clear, accurate, and effective technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Support the diagnosis of complex vehicle faults using symptoms, Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), and engineering data.
Develop and author diagnostic workflows that guide technicians through fault-finding and repair processes.
Create, manage, review, and publish technical diagnostic content for use by dealer networks and service technicians.
Collaborate with engineering teams and subject matter experts to gather, validate, and interpret technical information.
Ensure all documentation is accurate and aligned with quality standards.
Contribute to diagnostic solution development, testing, and validation activities.
Work effectively within a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

Essential Skills and Experience

Understanding of vehicle systems development, programme integration, and diagnostics processes.
Expert in Microsoft Office packages.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Ability to diagnose faults.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Experience producing technical documentation from a variety of information sources.
The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation.
Professional and customer-focused approach.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Desirable Skills

Experience in diagnostic technical authoring.
Knowledge of Simplified Technical English (STE).
Experience using 3D CAD or modelling software.
