Van Technician
Altera Recruitment Group is supporting an established infrastructure contractor in North West London in the appointment of a Van Technician to maintain its light commercial vehicle (LGV) fleet. The pay is £15 to £17 an hour (£39,000 to £44,200), with optional Saturday overtime on top.
The business is a well established contractor of several hundred people and runs its own mixed fleet of vans and HGVs. The Van Technician joins the in house workshop team, working on the company's own vehicles rather than a queue of customer jobs.
The role would suit a Van Technician, Light Commercial Technician or Vehicle Technician from a dealer, fleet or fast fit background. There are no lates: the Van Technician works day shifts, 06:00 to 16:00 or 07:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, with flexibility. That makes 50 hours a week, as 10 hour days with a paid 1 hour break.
Key Responsibilities of the Van Technician
* Servicing, repairs and planned maintenance on the van fleet.
* Preparing vans for MOT.
* Diagnosing and repairing defects reported by drivers.
* Using diagnostic equipment to find and fix faults first time.
* Keeping maintenance records accurate and up to date.
* Occasional breakdown support to keep the fleet on the road.
Candidate Requirements
* A Van Technician or Vehicle Technician with proven light commercial repair experience.
* City and Guilds Level 1 to 3 Vehicle Technician, or equivalent.
* Confident with diagnostic equipment.
* A working knowledge of commercial vehicle legislation.
* Your own tools; specialist tools are supplied.
* A full UK driving licence.
* Fleet workshop experience would be advantageous.
