Salary: Competitive – Dependent on Experience
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Sector: Facilities Management / Commercial Building Services

The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mobile Lead Engineer to oversee and support a team of maintenance engineers covering commercial properties across London.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong Mechanical or Electrical Engineer who has progressed into a supervisory position but still enjoys being hands-on.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for coordinating daily engineering activities, supporting engineers with technical issues, managing workloads and ensuring maintenance services are delivered to a high standard.

This position offers a varied workload, combining practical engineering duties with team leadership, client liaison and operational support.

Key Responsibilities

*

Lead, support and coordinate a team of mobile maintenance engineers across London.

*

Plan daily workloads, engineer schedules and site attendance to ensure efficient service delivery.

*

Carry out and oversee planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance and minor remedial works.

*

Provide hands-on technical support across mechanical and electrical building services systems.

*

Assist engineers with fault finding, breakdowns and complex maintenance issues.

*

Monitor PPM completion, reactive works and contractual SLA/KPI performance.

*

Provide engineering cover during periods of absence or increased workload.

*

Conduct site inspections, technical audits and compliance checks.

*

Prepare quotations for remedial works, including labour, materials and specialist contractor requirements.

*

Oversee additional works from initial survey through to completion.

*

Ensure accurate maintenance records, reports and updates are maintained through CAFM systems.

*

Liaise with clients, contract managers and subcontractors to ensure high standards of service.

*

Mentor and develop engineers, providing technical guidance and support.

*

Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations, RAMS and permit-to-work procedures.

Requirements

*

NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

*

Strong experience within commercial building services maintenance or Facilities Management.

*

Previous experience supervising or leading a mobile or multi-site engineering team.

*

Good all-round mechanical and electrical knowledge, including HVAC, pumps, motors, electrical distribution, lighting, heating and ventilation systems.

*

Excellent fault-finding and technical problem-solving abilities.

*

Good working knowledge of CAFM systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable Qualifications

*

18th Edition Wiring Regulations.

*

Electrical Inspection & Testing qualifications.

*

F-Gas, HVAC, plumbing or BMS qualifications.

*

IOSH Managing Safely or SSSTS.

*

IPAF, PASMA or other relevant health and safety certifications.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an experienced engineer who enjoys leading from the front rather than working solely in an office-based management position.

You will be confident supporting a team, dealing with technical challenges and ensuring maintenance standards are maintained across multiple sites.

This role would suit an experienced Mobile Supervisor, Lead Engineer, Senior Maintenance Engineer or Engineering Supervisor looking for their next opportunity within Facilities Management.
