Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.

The Role:

The successful applicant for this position will join our Infotainment team working within a luxury sports car manufacturer based in the UK. They will be able to create technical HMI requirements considering the user interface, user experience, usability testing and GUI testing. They should be able to maintain and release the UI/UX specifications and work within the bounds of the system whilst considering how the UI/UX fits within the chosen software architecture. The candidate will be primarily responsible for testing the User Interface, documenting the misalignments, creating prototypes and POC’s and working with the design team to ensure the UI/UX matches the overall design vision.

Dimension of Function:

Our Engineering Research and Development team (ER&D) is a fast-growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers.

The infotainment team within ER&D is responsible for hardware and software that delivers the entertainment system and vehicle information interface to the user. Roles within the infotainment team are varied and include management of suppliers and delivery of requirements to the customer to set timescales, component ownership of hardware such as head units, displays, antennas, instrument clusters, switchgear and driver controls to pure software roles looking after network requirements, application development and certification, software architecture, HMI development etc. Or a mixture of both hardware and software ownership.

A position within the infotainment team requires a highly motivated and hands-on team player with exceptional attention to detail, diligence, a positive attitude and the ability to communicate well. The fast-paced development provides a challenging environment suited to an engineer who can quickly develop skills in new areas and liaise with and drive other engineers within a multidisciplinary/global team. Our customers expect high standards and we require staff capable of meeting such demands

Area of Responsibility:

The infotainment team is responsible for the specification, test and delivery of all infotainment systems and commodities including software and hardware.

Responsibilities will include management and direct delivery of specific infotainment UI/UX. Responsibilities shall include:

* Work within a cross functional global team to collectively deliver all aspects of the infotainment and vehicle UI/UX on current and future vehicles.

* GUI testing for the infotainment and cluster from design perspective and document the misalignment between the implementation and HMI specifications

* Help develop detailed UI/UX specifications for infotainment features and vehicle functions and settings taking guidance from senior engineers where needed.

* Work closely with the design team ensuring that all UI/UX specifications incorporate the required design theme and the available control hardware.

* Be responsible for developing proof of concept virtual models to demonstrate and sign off proposed UI/UX to programme representatives and customers prior to software implementation, taking guidance from senior engineers where needed.

* Work with feature engineers to develop UI/UX that fulfils their feature requirements, guiding engineers where necessary in good UI/UX practice.

* Arrange and conduct market research and competitor vehicle analysis to understand customer and competitor vehicle requirements and use this information to drive the UI/UX design.

* Participate and arrange internal/external customer clinics to assess the UI/UX design, document the feedback and use this to drive better/improved design.

* Provide inputs for design verification planning, working with requirement engineering teams to ensure vehicle level testing is understood and captured.

* Understand how the system software architecture is designed and how the HMI software layer sits within the architecture and communicates with the other software components.

* Be involved with creating the language files used in the HMI, working with the feature and component owners to ensure all messaging to the user is captured and liaising with the translators to create a master document of all the displayed text and translations.

* Responsible for performing root cause analysis on issues identified during validation and vehicle builds and reporting in a concise and formal manner.

* Provide input to a core engineering test team to ensure robust delivery of all owned infotainment systems and integration sign-off.

* Manage software release planning with the responsible ECU system engineer.

* Execute testing of all owned infotainment software deliveries including specifying and overseeing development of all test resources necessary to validate the full suite of HMI.

* Evaluate current customer feedback and complaints to address HMI issues in the development phase.

* Report on current activities, UI/UX design progress and issues to management levels.

* Management of all technical issues with suppliers using customer issue management systems and processes.

Knowledge / experience

· Experience in carrying out Automotive Final Assembly Line (TCF) Process Engineering with Digital Build

· Experience in Building Final Assembly (TCF) Line station wise digital build in Delmia V5 / Process Simulate & Fitment Path Simulation

· Expert knowledge of Teamcenter and Tecnomatix software

· Experience is DFA check and ECR Report creation

· Experience in Selection of Assembly Tools and its use in Digital Build

· Experience in Complete digital Validation of Assembly fitment process

· Ready to travel if project demands

· Able to co-ordinate with multiple teams within Organization & suppliers

· Experience of Process New Product Introduction (NPI)

· Executed Final Assembly Process Engineering projects of OEMs or Tier1s

· Experience in various Process Related Standards

· Experience in technical specification & selection

· Experience working with mass manufacturing is essential

· Experience in Creating Plans to Eliminate Process Inefficiencies

· Knowledge of Assembly Fixture / Tools, Facility in a mass manufacturing environment

· Knowledge of Design and implementation of processes

· Knowledge of complete final Assembly line Process & Line Layout

· Knowledge of Manual, semi-automatic, automatic assembly process

· Knowledge of End of line functional test benches / Special purpose machines or Equipment's as per product requirements

· Knowledge of Make / Buy strategy

· Knowledge of material flow logistic & Line Balancing

· Knowledge of Work content analysis in assembly line

· Experience working in a leading position

· Proven hands on work experience in process engineering Digital Build

· Executed at least 4-5 Process Engineering project of Final Assembly

· Executed Process Engineering project for Multi-model Lines

· Executed project for line functional test benches / Special purpose machines or Equipment's as per product requirements with OEM – at least 1-2 projects (Greenfield / Brownfield)

· Worked with manufacturing OEM for new Line Process set up

· Task oriented to execute Final Assembly Process Engineering projects of Global OEMs & Tier1s.
