Are you a dedicated, technically astute Utility Mapping Surveyor looking to deliver complex subsurface detection projects within a Tier 1 Specialist Consultancy?
A Leading Specialist is expanding its Scottish surveying operations and seeking an accomplished Utility Mapping Surveyor to lead field operations across Glasgow and the surrounding regions. This is a pivotal role offering the chance to deploy advanced geophysical detection tools on critical utilities, infrastructure upgrades, and commercial developments.
The Opportunity:
You will play a vital role in detecting, locating, and mapping subterranean networks to the highest industry accuracy bands. Your day-to-day remit involves:
Executing systematic utility detection surveys deploying advanced EML and GPR instruments in accordance with PAS 128 methodologies.
Capturing surface utility markings using survey-grade GNSS receivers and Total Stations to ensure absolute spatial accuracy.
Converting site survey data into high-quality CAD deliverables, interpreting complex underground utility corridors in AutoCAD.
Compiling formal engineering records, including inspection chamber cards, permits to dig, and comprehensive client survey summary reports.
Managing client liaison in the field, advising on survey scope, site constraints, and best practices for underground asset verification.
Technical Essentials:
To be successful, you must demonstrate high-level technical proficiency:
Mandatory: At least 2–3 years’ hands-on utility surveying background with an applied understanding of the PAS 128 standard.
Compliance/Systems: Demonstrated ability in EML tracing, GPR deployment (including array units like Stream C), Total Station/GNSS positioning, and AutoCAD data interpretation. Knowledge of CCTV drainage inspection and post-processing software packages is desirable.
Experience: Proven track record taking mapping projects from field data capture through to office deliverable sign-off; solid grasp of land survey geometry and safety-critical site workflows.
Mobility: Full clean UK driving licence. Flexibility to travel across the Scottish territory, adapt to alternative shift patterns (including night shifts), and lodge away when required.
The Package:
Starting salary between £35,000 and £45,000 per annum, with structured overtime pay and travel allowances.
Company vehicle, smartphone, and dedicated survey laptop.
24 days annual leave plus standard statutory bank holidays.
Company pension scheme, MediCash scheme, and comprehensive employee discount/benefits package.
Ongoing sponsorship for industry-recognised certifications: NVQ accreditations, CSCS, NRSWA, First Aid, and advanced GPR processing training.
