Are you an ambitious, technically proficient Utility Mapping Surveyor looking to advance your career on high-profile infrastructure projects within a Tier 1 Specialist Consultancy?
A Leading Specialist is expanding its utility surveying operations and seeking a highly skilled Utility Mapping Surveyor to cover Oxford and the surrounding regions. This is a pivotal role offering the chance to take complex underground mapping schemes from field to finish while delivering robust, safety-critical subsurface data to key infrastructure clients.
The Opportunity:
You will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive underground utility detection and mapping solutions in strict accordance with industry standards. Your day-to-day remit involves:
Operating Electromagnetic Locators (EML) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) systems to accurately detect and trace subsurface infrastructure to PAS 128 specifications.
Utilizing GNSS receivers and Total Stations to precisely capture utility marks and integrate geospatial positions into site control grids.
Processing, interpreting, and drafting survey data using AutoCAD to produce detailed 2D/3D subsurface utility models and client deliverable drawings.
Generating detailed written survey reports, permits to dig, and comprehensive manhole and inspection chamber record cards.
Liaising directly with site clients and stakeholders to advise on PAS 128 survey methodologies, execution requirements, and site deliverables.
Technical Essentials:
To be successful, you must demonstrate high-level technical proficiency:
Mandatory: Minimum 2–3 years’ verified experience operating as a Utility Mapping Surveyor with proven execution to the PAS 128 specification.
Compliance/Systems: Strong working knowledge of EML, dual-frequency/array GPR (experience with high-density array systems such as Stream C highly advantageous), Total Stations, GNSS receivers, and AutoCAD. GPR post-processing software and CCTV drainage survey experience desirable.
Experience: Demonstrated ability to manage utility detection workflows independently from field survey through to final CAD presentation; proven track record creating permits to dig and chamber cards.
Mobility: Full clean UK driving licence. Flexibility to travel regionally, accommodate occasional shift patterns (including night shifts), and undertake periods of lodging away when required.
The Package:
Competitive base salary of £35,000 – £45,000 per annum plus paid overtime and travel allowance.
Fully expensed company vehicle, laptop, and mobile phone.
24 days annual leave plus statutory bank holidays.
Excellent company pension scheme, MediCash healthcare plan, and corporate Employee Benefits Scheme.
Funded industry certifications and professional development, including NVQ pathways, CSCS, NRSWA, First Aid, and advanced GPR processing modules.
