Description:

Carmichael UK is seeking an experienced Utilities Site Engineer / Utilities Coordinator to join the HS2 project in Buckinghamshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven engineering professional with strong utilities experience to play a key role in the safe planning, coordination and delivery of works across a complex construction environment.

Working closely with site teams, subcontractors and stakeholders, you will be responsible for protecting utility assets, supporting permit-to-work processes, coordinating utility-related activities and ensuring compliance with industry standards and safe systems of work. Based on the attached job description, the role includes permit approvals, utility detection and breaking ground activities, site engineering duties, quality assurance, record keeping and supporting the delivery team in achieving safe and compliant project delivery. 

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate and manage utility protection activities across the project.

Review and approve breaking ground and permit-to-work documentation.

Ensure compliance with utility detection standards and safety procedures.

Support site teams with safe delivery of utility-related works.

Carry out site engineering duties, setting out and survey control activities.

Monitor quality, maintain accurate records and support as-built documentation.

Work closely with subcontractors, designers and client representatives.

Assist with method statements, inspections and testing requirements.

Requirements

Previous experience as a Utilities Coordinator, Utilities Engineer, Site Engineer or similar role.

Civil engineering and utility construction experience.

Strong understanding of HSG47, GS6 and working around underground and overhead services.

Knowledge of statutory undertaker procedures and utility asset protection.

GIS knowledge and experience.

Cable avoidance training.

IOSH Avoiding Danger from Underground Services, EUSR or equivalent qualification.

Valid CSCS Card.

Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
