Unqualified Teaching Assistant - Specialist Education Setting

Location: Bury
Job Type: Full-Time, Long-Term
Hours: Term Time Only
Pay: £110-£120 per day (depending on experience)

We are recruiting for an Unqualified Teaching Assistant to join a specialist education setting in the Bury area. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity supporting children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The setting provides a structured learning environment where students are supported to achieve their academic, social and personal goals. Staff work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver consistent support and create opportunities for students to develop confidence, independence and essential life skills.

The Role

As an Unqualified Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and support staff to help students access learning and participate in daily school activities. You will provide classroom support, deliver one-to-one and small group interventions, and contribute to maintaining a safe and productive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Support students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
Assist with classroom activities and lesson delivery.
Encourage student engagement and participation in learning.
Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
Support students with communication, emotional regulation and social development where required.
Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
Follow individual education and behaviour support plans.
Work as part of the wider school team to meet students' individual needs.

Requirements

Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential.
Applications are welcomed from candidates with transferable experience in youth work, residential care, sports coaching, mentoring, support work, childcare, social care or similar roles.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Ability to work proactively and adapt to different situations.
Reliable, professional and able to work effectively within a team.
A genuine interest in supporting children and young people with SEND.

Essential

Enhanced DBS Certificate for Child and Adult Workforce, registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
Right to work in the UK.
