Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a supportive and forward-thinking secondary school in Northampton that is looking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Unqualified Teacher on a full-time, permanent basis from September 2026.

This role would be well suited to graduates, Cover Supervisors, Teaching Assistants, tutors, sports coaches, youth workers, mentors, or aspiring teachers who are keen to build their classroom experience and take the next step towards a career in education.

You will work closely with experienced teaching staff and school leaders, gaining practical experience of classroom delivery, behaviour management, and supporting student progress. The school is committed to helping aspiring educators develop their skills and confidence in preparation for future teacher training.

The position would be particularly suitable for candidates considering a PGCE, SCITT, School Direct, or other teacher training route, providing an excellent foundation for progression into qualified teaching.

The Role

Deliver pre-planned lessons across KS3 and KS4.
Lead whole-class learning when covering for the regular classroom teacher.
Establish and maintain a calm, structured, and positive learning environment.
Manage classroom behaviour effectively and consistently.
Encourage students to remain engaged, focused, and motivated.
Support pupils with their academic progress and personal development.
Build positive and professional relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
Work alongside qualified teachers and support staff to ensure students receive effective learning and pastoral support.
Contribute to the wider school community and participate in relevant training and development.

About You

Experience working with children or young people through education, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, youth work, or a similar setting.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Confident and comfortable taking responsibility for a classroom.
A positive, professional, and enthusiastic approach.
Good organisation, adaptability, and resilience.
The ability to establish positive relationships and maintain clear expectations.
A genuine interest in education and a desire to develop a career in teaching.
A reliable and committed team player who wants to make a difference to young people's lives.
