Description:

Come Off the Tools. Build the Next Generation of Fire & Security Engineers.

Technical Tutor | Training Academy,  | £50,000 - £55,000 per annum

You've spent years on site. You've commissioned the systems, fixed what others couldn't and learned things no textbook teaches. Now imagine passing all of that on.

Our client, the UK's leading security company, is looking for an experienced Fire & Security engineer to step off the tools and into the classroom at their training academy in Derby. You'll turn your hard-earned knowledge into the skills, confidence and professionalism of their apprentices, and shape the future of the industry.

Why this role?

Your experience is the qualification. They want someone who has done the job and can show apprentices what good looks like.

Build engineers from the ground up. You'll train apprentices to the FESS Level 3 Standard and see them grow from trainees into capable, confident engineers.

Leave a legacy. Employees who started as trainees now head up key departments. You could be the person who gave them that start.

Help shape the Academy. You'll have a real voice in how training is developed, including new commercial training modules.

What you'll do

Train and coach apprentices to the FESS Level 3 Standard

Deliver engaging classroom and online technical training in Fire & Security Systems

Develop learning materials that bring real-world installation and commissioning experience to life

Create and promote commercial training modules

Mentor and develop apprentices, offering career advice and supporting apprentice recruitment

Work closely with the Management Team to achieve the Academy's development goals

Engage with external clients and agencies

Keep the Academy running smoothly, including quality assurance compliance and learner documentation

What you'll bring

Solid, hands-on experience installing Fire & Security systems. This is essential.

A genuine desire to coach, mentor and inspire people early in their careers

Confident verbal and written communication

Good IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Strong organisation and time management, and the ability to juggle competing priorities in a busy environment

You don't need to have taught before. If you've trained junior engineers, led a team or been the person colleagues come to with questions, you're already halfway there.

What you'll get

£50,000 - £55,000 per annum, plus:

35 days annual leave (including bank holidays)

Subsidised private medical cover after probation

Sick pay that increases with length of service

Annual season ticket loan and interest-free company loan

Cycle to Work and Home & Tech schemes (up to £2k)

Training and development opportunities, including day release for studies and exams

Recruitment referral bonus of up to £500 per successful referral (T&Cs apply)

Personal Accident Insurance covering accidents at work and outside of work

Workplace benefits card with exclusive offers and discounts on everyday spending

Company laptop, mobile and additional screens

Up to 50% off company products

Auto-enrolment pension

24/7 confidential Employee Assistance Programme for you and your family, available from day one

Social events, employee recognition rewards and "moments of magic" prizes

Charity events throughout the year, including a flagship annual march that has raised over £13 million for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity since 2010

About the company

We are an equal opportunities recruiter and our client is an equal opportunities employer. Applications are welcome from everyone, regardless of sex, gender, race, national origin, religion, age, sexual orientation, disability or any other category protected by law. Applicants are considered on experience, talent and qualifications.

I changed the company name to "our client" and swapped the Banham-branded items (Academy, products, loan, Marsden March) for generic wording. Since the charity march, the 1926 founding date and the Royal Marsden link could still point back to the company, you may want to remove them if you need full anonymity. I'm happy to produce that stricter version
