Brief Overview of the role

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Tutor to support a young pupil with high SEMH needs. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of SEMH, demonstrated through hands-on experience. The tutor will work closely with the pupil to build a trusting relationship to begin with and get to know one another, over time the aim will be to provide personalised educational support, fostering both academic and emotional growth. The importance of the tuition to begin with is it to build a good relationship, where the pupil is happy to have you in their home and looks to you as someone they trust and will turn to for support and comfort.

Responsibilities:

Provide one-on-one tutoring sessions tailored to the pupil's SEMH needs.

Engage in sensory based activities

Teach how to turn take and tolerate others in their personal space.

Develop and implement individualised learning plans that incorporate strategies to support the pupil's emotional and mental well-being.

Utilize a variety of teaching methods to engage the pupil and accommodate their learning style.

Monitor the pupil's progress and adapt strategies as necessary to ensure continuous improvement.

Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other professionals involved in the pupil's care to provide a holistic support system.

Maintain detailed records of the pupil's progress and any incidents, communicating regularly with parents and other stakeholders.

Qualifications/ Experience:

Proven experience working with high SEMH needs.

In-depth knowledge and understanding of SEMH issues and best practices for supporting children with these needs.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children succeed.

Ability to create a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning environment.

Experience working within an educational or therapeutic setting.

Familiarity with educational tools and resources tailored for children with SEMH needs.
