Job Role: Tunnelling Site Agent (Shaft sinking)

Location: Southampton

Start: 03/06

Duration: 2-4 months

Are you an experienced Tunnelling Site Agent looking for an exciting new role? Barker Ross are currently working with an industry leading and award winning Tunnelling contractor who are looking to expand their workforce due to a vast amount of contracts awarded all over the UK

Role

Formulate plans for the execution of tasks within their designated sphere under the direction of the Agent, encompassing design, construction techniques, scheduling, and financial projections.

Prepare adequately for task completion, overseeing resource allocation, and furnishing guidance and supervision to Construction team members and Sub-Contractors.

Ensure alignment of task progress with contractual obligations, project timelines, financial allocations, and design specifications.

Oversee Quality Assurance procedures for designated task sections, including assembling handover documentation and securing client approval.

Primary Responsibilities

Devise strategies for design, construction methodology, scheduling, and financial estimates. Arrange for task execution, including resource management, procurement, regulatory approvals, and pre-commencement documentation.
Supervise, mentor, and train on-site personnel to optimize their contributions.
Scrutinize contractual terms, devising detailed task-specific schedules and budget forecasts. Evaluate actual progress against planned schedules and productivity benchmarks, taking corrective actions as necessary, and informing the Construction Manager and Quantity Surveying department of any modifications.
Possess a thorough understanding of subcontractors' contractual obligations, assisting in tailoring job-specific subcontracting terms, and overseeing subcontractor accounts in collaboration with the Quantity Surveying team.
Timely requisition of resources to ensure appropriate specifications and availability, thus avoiding disruptions to the construction schedule.
Relay non-conformities and directives from the client/designer/Resident Engineer's staff to the Construction Manager, Quality Assurance, and Quantity Surveying teams. Maintain comprehensive records of additional works and resource utilization.
Maintain an accurate daily site log, documenting changes/variations, subcontractor attendance, and discussions pertinent to project stakeholders.
Ensure implementation and adherence to inspection and test plans, risk assessments, and method statements for work control.
Adhere to Health & Safety and Environmental Policies, implementing relevant aspects of the Safety Management System within designated responsibilities.
Ensure dissemination of Health and Safety and Environmental Policies to the Construction Team, Sub-Contractors, and Suppliers, keeping them abreast of pertinent developments and issues.
Internal collaboration with the Construction Manager, Design and Engineering Team, Quality Assurance team, and Cost Control.
Familiarity with and adherence to Client and Joint Venture Partners' Environmental and Sustainability Policies, Processes, and statutory requirements, ensuring their application within the project's scope.The Ideal Candidate

Essential:

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field, or an HND in Civil Engineering with engineering vocational training.
Familiarity with construction methodologies, sequencing, and industry best practices.
Understanding of construction contracts and their implementation.
Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative based on engineering and practical experience.
Capacity to work independently and proactively, while also collaborating effectively with integrated team members and external stakeholders.
Proficiency in computer applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Document Control Systems, AutoCAD).
Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
