Transport Shift Manager - 12 Month Fixed Term Contract - £42,830 + 33 Days Annual Leave + Enhanced Pension + Growing Market Leading Business!

The Company

We are working with a market leader who are experiencing significant growth. They are looking to add a Transport Shift Manager to their team at the Nottingham depot, initially to cover maternity leave on a 12 month FTC.

You will be joining a team of experienced industry professionals with a chance to progress your career within a growing business with an excellent brand reputation. This role gives a chance for someone to lead the Transport function at a blue chip organisation.

The Role

Working Monday-Friday from the Nottingham depot, the Transport Shift Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and compliance of the department whilst ensuring employees are motivated, working safely towards a common goal and maximising productivity.

Key Responsibilities

* Achievement of the daily/weekly/monthly KPI’s through effective guidance and Ensure all daily/weekly/monthly KPI’s are monitored and achieved or exceeded through utilisation and interpretation of relevant data.

* Manage and coach individuals to perform to their maximum potential through a balanced approach of recognition and managing performance against agreed KPI’s.

* Manage all resources including commercial vehicles, cages, pallets and sack barrows.

* Allocate work in a consistent manner in line with individual / team capability and legal driving hours to achieve targets.

* Manages and delivers briefings to the team to ensure they are aware of, and adhere to all company messages, policies and procedures.

* Communicates effectively with individuals at all levels including those on different shifts and in different departments

* Promote and manage all QHSE, Fleet and Sustainability standards, focussing on team safety and wellbeing in accordance with the relevant policies.

* Conduct quality investigations when required to understand and establish root causes to take corrective and preventative action or escalate where necessary.

* Ensure stock is managed to reduce damage and ensure cost and customer availability KPI’s are met.

* Review and implement opportunities for continuous improvement by collaboratively working and seeking feedback from own team and related teams.

* Ensuring all existing and new employees are trained to Company standards with all relevant documents completed and submitted.

* Full compliance and completion of induction and probationary process for all new recruits.

* Set clear expectations including KPI, safety and team behaviours to all direct reports by setting annual objectives. Hold regular one to ones to review objectives and perform end of year appraisal.

* Full compliance of the agency worker process, including recruitment through appropriate PSL agencies, full training and completion of relevant agency documentation.

What We Are Looking For

The Transport Shift Manager will ideally have experience in a similar role and be a forward-thinking individual with attention to detail & the ability to implement change within the transport function.

Ideally you will be/have:

* Experience in a multi-drop environment is highly beneficial.

* Good level of verbal and written English and numeracy skills.

* Proficient in IT and ability to use Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook.

* Experience of a Fast moving Transport environment, preferably from a multi-drop business

* Full understanding of Transport legislation.

* Evidence of effective management experience.

* Effective communication skills

* Evidence of managing and driving change, in situations constantly requiring adaptation.
