Transport Planning Manager
General Haulage Division
Skelmersdale
£34,000 - £38,000 (flexible depending on expereince)
Monday – Friday, 9am – 6pm
I’m currently recruiting for an experienced Transport Planning Manager to join a leading general haulage operation.
They are seeking a Transport Planning Manager to support the current transport operation in the transport planning management of general haulage and sub contracted division.
The Candidate;
Transport planning management background of a national general haulage fleet
Proven experience within the management and route planning of circa 80 + drivers
Previous Transport management experience within a General Haulage operation
Transport planning background or proven experience of leading transport planning teams
Knowledge of Mandata is highly advantageous
CPC – Transport Management Qualification desirable
The ability to grow and develop general haulage contracts
The ability to develop relationships and negotiate rates with third party hauliers
Experience within a similar transport manager position
Must have a ‘can do’ attitude
Presentable, polite and demonstrate excellent customer service skills
Strong customer service skills
Competent decision making
Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
Duties and Responsibilities;
Supervision of route planning, resource allocation and management, driver supervision
Manage the development and performance of the organisation’s general haulage division
To grow the general haulage operation through existing contacts and networking
Negotiating and managing 3PL haulier rates
Performance management of all 3PL hauliers
Customer service - resolving customer issues/complaints and ensuring critical KPI's are met.
Procedural accuracy, training and full compliance of all transport operations
Managing general transport budget
Liaising with sub-contractors
Recruitment, training, set action and targets, appraise and manage performance, development, coaching and general support of all team members to ensure targets are met
Preparation of management reports, including MPG, activity, costs/vehicles, monthly budgets, collection efficiency and yard service
