Transport Planner

Birmingham | Development Planning Consultancy | Hybrid Working
I'm currently working with a well-established transport planning consultancy that is looking to recruit a Transport Planner to join its growing Birmingham team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in development-focused transport planning who is looking to further develop their technical skills while working on a varied portfolio of projects across the Midlands and UK.
The business advises on a wide range of schemes including:

Residential developments
Mixed-use regeneration projects
Commercial and employment developments
Logistics schemes
Retail and leisure projects
Education developments
You'll be part of a collaborative team delivering transport planning advice from the early stages of development through to planning approval.

The Role

Responsibilities are likely to include:

Preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Transport Notes
Producing Travel Plans and Site Access Appraisals
Assisting with Travel Plan coordination activities
Reviewing local and national planning and transport policy
Undertaking junction capacity assessments using ARCADY and PICADY
Traffic signal modelling using LinSig
Assisting with highway and access design using AutoCAD
Carrying out swept path analysis using AutoTrack
Producing plans and graphics using GIS software
Supporting project delivery across multiple development planning commissions
Liaising with clients, local authorities and other stakeholders
Assisting with fee proposals and business development activities

What They're Looking For

Degree qualified in Transport Planning, Geography, Civil Engineering or a related discipline
Experience within a transport planning consultancy or similar environment
Exposure to development planning projects
Good report writing and analytical skills
Familiarity with transport software packages such as Junctions, LinSig, AutoCAD or AutoTrack
Strong communication skills and a professional approach
Membership, or aspirations towards membership, of CIHT, TPS or ICE would be advantageous
Proactive attitude with excellent attention to detail
