Our client is one of the UK’s leading providers of logistics and maintenance services to the mobile medical industry.

Working with customers ranging from start-ups to large blue-chip organisations, they provide flexible, high-quality and cost-effective solutions that help keep mobile healthcare operations running smoothly.

As the business continues to grow, they are looking for an experienced Transport Planner to join their busy Transport Planning team.

The Role

This is a hands-on role within a busy traffic office, responsible for the effective planning and coordination of daily transport operations.

You’ll work closely with drivers, customers, subcontractors and internal teams to ensure vehicles, drivers and resources are in the right place at the right time.

This would suit an organised and commercially aware transport professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and is confident making decisions, solving problems and keeping operations moving.

Key Responsibilities

* Plan and coordinate daily vehicle routes in line with customer requirements.

* Liaise closely with drivers throughout the day to ensure the smooth running of operations.

* Prepare and issue driver paperwork and relevant operational documentation.

* Monitor and support driver compliance, including tachographs, drivers’ hours, health & safety and accident reporting.

* Prepare daily staff attendance rotas and arrange relief cover where required.

* Coordinate subcontractor requirements for fleet maintenance and repairs, including obtaining costs and appropriate authorisation.

* Ensure vehicles and equipment are available for planned inspections, servicing, repairs and MOTs within the required timescales.

* Work directly with customers to communicate and implement changes to daily schedules and requirements.

* Respond quickly and effectively to operational issues and changing priorities.

* Provide support and cover for colleagues when required.

* Complete general administration and other duties to support the wider transport operation.

About You

We’re looking for someone with previous experience working in a busy transport or traffic office who can demonstrate:

* Previous experience in a transport planning, traffic office or similar operational role.

* A good understanding of driver regulations and compliance requirements.

* Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.

* The ability to remain calm and make effective decisions in a fast-paced environment.

* Experience working to tight delivery, operational or customer service requirements.

* Strong communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with drivers, customers and suppliers.

* A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage changing priorities.

* A flexible approach to holiday and sickness cover, overtime and occasional weekend working when required.

* A CPC qualification would be advantageous.

Why Join?

This is an opportunity to join an established and growing business operating within a specialist and important sector.

You’ll play a key role in the day-to-day operation, working with a supportive team and having genuine responsibility for ensuring transport activities are planned and delivered effectively.
