Description:

TRANSPORT COORDINATOR / PLANNER
£30,000–£35,000 | Grantham | General Haulage, Backloads & Pallet Network

We’re recruiting an experienced Transport Planner to join an established transport operation in Grantham.

This is a varied Transport Planner position covering both general haulage and pallet network operations, so you'll play an important role in planning vehicles across different areas of the business.

The company operates a busy fleet carrying out general haulage, UK-wide backloads and pallet network work through TPN / Palletways. This is an ideal opportunity for a planner who enjoys variety and wants to be part of a small, close-knit transport team.

THE TRANSPORT PLANNER ROLE

• Plan and allocate resources across the transport fleet efficiently and cost-effectively.

• Plan general haulage movements and source UK-wide backloads to maximise vehicle utilisation and revenue.

• Coordinate TPN / Palletways network movements and ensure delivery schedules are achieved.

• Provide planning support and holiday/sickness cover across the operation.

• Liaise with drivers and customers throughout the day to resolve issues and keep transport moving.

• Process customer orders and enter accurate information into the traffic management system.

• Monitor delivery and collection schedules and deal with any issues affecting service.

• Process, scan and upload PODs and other transport documentation.

• Check purchase invoices where required.

• Monitor operational KPIs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.

• Work closely with colleagues across the transport operation to ensure vehicles are loaded and unloaded safely and efficiently.

• Support compliance, health & safety and environmental standards.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for an experienced Transport Planner who is comfortable working in a busy transport environment and enjoys the challenge of balancing competing priorities.

Ideally, you'll have:

• Previous experience in transport planning / haulage planning.

• Experience with general haulage and/or backload planning.

• Experience within a pallet network environment, ideally TPN or Palletways.

• Good geographical knowledge of the UK.

• Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing with drivers and customers.

• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

• The ability to work under pressure and make decisions quickly.

• A flexible approach and willingness to support different areas of the operation.

WHY THIS TRANSPORT PLANNER ROLE?

This is a genuine opportunity to join a small, established transport team where no two days are the same.

You'll have exposure to general haulage, backloads and pallet network planning, giving you the opportunity to develop your experience across the wider transport operation rather than being restricted to one area.
