Description:
The Transport Officer is responsible for managing and overseeing the transportation operations within the organisation. This role ensures the efficient and safe transport of goods and personnel, maintaining compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. The Transport Officer coordinates with drivers, schedules deliveries, and ensures the maintenance and repair of the fleet. The role demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee the company's fleet of vehicles, ensuring they are well-maintained, safe, and compliant with legal standards. Schedule regular maintenance and repairs.
* Plan and coordinate transport routes and schedules to optimize efficiency and reduce costs. Ensure timely delivery and pickup of goods.
* Manage and supervise drivers and other transport staff. Conduct training sessions and ensure all staff adhere to safety protocols.
* Ensure all transportation activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations. Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, licenses, and insurance.
* Strong organisational and multitasking skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
* Proficiency in transportation management software and MS Office Suite
* Problem-solving and decision-making skills
Experience
Minimum 2-3 years experience of working in a transport office
Knowledge of drivers hours/working time regulations would be an advantage.
The successful candidate will require experience of working in a busy and pressured office environment.
