Job Description

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Trainee Quantity Surveyor / Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a fit-out contractor in Northampton

They specialise in internal and external construction services and offer their clients a one stop shop.

You will enjoy working across a variety of sectors: Education, hospitality, retail, industrial, education and civil and new build up to circa £2m in value.

In this role you will receive full support from their Commercial Manager and Senior Quantity and will enjoy working as part of a dedicated Quantity Surveying team.

You will assist in the management and control of costs associated with construction projects.

Responsibilities:

· Assist in preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities.

· Perform take-offs and measurements from drawings to aid in the estimation process.

· Assist in the analysis of construction costs and preparation of cost reports.

· Conduct research to gather data on labour costs.

· Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate and timely cost tracking.

· Assist in the valuation of monthly/ fortnightly applications.

· Site visits and inspections as required.

· Support the resolution of contractual and commercial issues.

· Maintain accurate records and documentation.

Requirements:

* You will have 6 months plus experience working as a Trainee or Assistant Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.

* You will have completed or will be part way through a relevant construction qualification.

* Strong mathematical and analytical skills.

* Comfortable with Microsoft programmes I.e. Word, Excel

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
