About the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Quality Inspector to join our client’s existing team. This would be a suitable role for an Engineering graduate or an apprentice who wants to develop their skills further. The ideal candidate will work alongside our experienced Quality Inspectors and will learn the skills necessary to develop into a fully trained Quality Inspector.

You will need to have a willingness to learn and a strong desire to develop expertise in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and weld inspection techniques. Full training is provided to ensure that the appropriate level of knowledge and skills required to be successful in this role are acquired.

This is a progressional role where you will undertake industry recognised qualifications.

Carr’s Engineering designs, manufactures, and services bespoke equipment, vessels, precision components and remote handling systems alongside providing specialist engineering services in the Nuclear, Defence, Oil & Gas, Motorsport, Pharmaceutical and Renewable industries. They have over 120 years of experience and provide industry leading services to their portfolio of long-standing customers.

Location & Hours of Work

* Bendalls Engineering, Carlisle, CA3 0EH

* Monday to Thursday, 40 hours per week on a rotational working pattern 6am – 4.30pm or 7.30am -6pm.

* Overtime available.

Key responsibilities

* To gain expertise in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and weld inspection and contribute to the overall quality assurance process.

* To participate in both in-house and external training programs focused on Non-Destructive Testing techniques and weld inspection methods.

* To collaborate effectively within a team of experienced quality inspectors to support quality control initiatives.

* To learn to perform Non-Destructive Testing and Weld Inspection on components in accordance with approved procedures, client specifications, and quality plans.

* To observe and learn how to connect with client inspectors to ensure seamless communication, alignment with project requirements, and timely resolution of quality-related matters.

* To learn how to communicate effectively through written reports and verbal interactions to document findings, observations, and recommendations.

* Prior exposure to heavy metal fabrication processes would be an

* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team structure.

* Excellent attention to detail, ability to identify anomalies, and a natural inclination towards ensuring product quality.

* Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey inspection results, collaborate with team members, and interact with client representatives.
