Graduate Trainee – Bespoke Furniture – Junior Project Assistant

Armstrong Vinton Furniture is looking for a Graduate Trainee who wants to build a career in the bespoke furniture and joinery industry.
This is a two-year training programme offering practical experience across the whole business, from learning how furniture is made on the workshop floor to developing the technical and commercial skills needed to manage projects.
The aim of the programme is to prepare you for a permanent position as a Junior Project Assistant, supporting our Project Managers with technical drawings, site surveys, CNC production, estimating, procurement and the coordination of bespoke furniture projects from design through to installation.
You may have a relevant diploma, foundation Degree or BA (Hons), perhaps in furniture design, product design, furniture making, interiors or a related subject. More importantly, you will have a genuine interest in high-quality furniture, materials and craftsmanship, and be keen to understand how bespoke projects are designed, manufactured and delivered.
What You’ll Learn
During the programme, you will gain experience in:
Workshop practice and furniture-making techniques.
Working alongside apprentice and experienced Cabinetmakers.
Materials, fittings, finishes and construction methods.
Technical drawing and draughting.
Site surveying and setting out.
CNC programming and production.
Project management.
Estimating and preparing quotations.
Following projects from initial enquiry through to installation.
The role will initially be based largely on the workshop floor, giving you a proper understanding of how bespoke furniture is made. As your skills develop, you will spend time with our draughting, CNC, estimating and project-management teams.
By the end of the programme, you should have the practical knowledge and technical understanding needed to support the day-to-day running of projects as a Junior Project Assistant, with further opportunities to develop within the company.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
Has completed a relevant two-year Diploma, Degree or BA (Hons).
Has a strong interest in bespoke furniture and joinery.
Enjoys both practical and technical work.
Is curious, organised and willing to learn.
Has good attention to detail.
Communicates confidently and works well as part of a team.
Is comfortable using computers and interested in learning CAD and CNC software.
Wants to develop a long-term career within the furniture industry.
Previous workshop experience would be helpful, but it is not essential. We are more interested in your attitude, aptitude and enthusiasm for the craft.
