Location: Caerphilly, Secondary School
Hours: 08:30 - 15:00, Monday to Friday
Salary: £12.90 per hour

The successful canddiate will also have the opportunity to develop their skills through Team Teach. Team Teach is one of the most sought-after qualifications for both SEN and Mainstream schools and will provide you with key knowledge to deal with challenging behaviour.

Job Description:

Role Overview:
As a Trainee Behaviour Learning Support Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in providing support to students with behavioural challenges within a secondary school setting. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the educational development and wellbeing of students while gaining valuable experience in behaviour management and support techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

Behavioural Support: Work closely with teaching staff to implement strategies and interventions designed to manage and improve student behaviour.

Individualized Support: Provide one-on-one support to students with behavioural challenges, assisting them in understanding and adhering to school rules and expectations.

Conflict Resolution: Mediate conflicts and de-escalate challenging situations to ensure a safe and positive learning environment for all students and staff.

Behaviour Monitoring: Maintain accurate records of student behaviour and progress, identifying patterns and trends to inform future support strategies.

Collaboration: Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to develop and implement individual behaviour plans tailored to meet the specific needs of students.

Personal Development: Engage in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills in behaviour management, counselling techniques, and conflict resolution.

Requirements:

Education: A minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths is required. Additional qualifications in counselling, psychology, or special educational needs (SEN) would be advantageous.

Experience: While prior experience in a similar role is preferred, candidates with a genuine interest in supporting students with behavioural challenges will be considered.

Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to remain calm under pressure and de-escalate tense situations effectively.

Personal Qualities: Patience, empathy, and resilience are key qualities for this role, as is a passion for making a positive difference in the lives of young people.

DBS Check: All successful applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
